On September 18 and 19, 2025, the newly-constructed Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices ("ACIP") of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention ("CDC") is expected to meet to discuss:
- COVID–19 vaccines;
- Hepatitis B vaccine;
- measles, mumps, rubella, varicella ("MMRV") vaccine; and
- Respiratory Syncytial Virus ("RSV").
This meeting is important because the Affordable Care Act requires plans and issuers to cover without cost-sharing immunizations for routine use in children, adolescents, and adults that have, in effect, a recommendation from ACIP. A recommendation from ACIP is considered in effect after it has been adopted by the Director of the CDC, and a recommendation is considered to be for routine use if it is listed on the Immunization Schedules of the CDC.
If ACIP modifies the recommendations for vaccines, plans and issuers may not be required to cover the vaccines without cost sharing after the end of this plan or policy year (or sooner if the change is due to a safety issue).
We are monitoring developments related to ACIP recommendations. Please reach out to your Groom attorney if you have any questions.
